Andries Willemzen Hoppe (Hoppen) lived in New Amsterdam for only seven years (1651-1658) and at his death he left behind four children under the age of eight. From these unlikely beginnings, he became the progenitor of a very large family of Hopper descendants. For more than one hundred years, these descendants, who now use the Hopper surname, lived in the New York City area, especially in Bergen County, New Jersey. Today, Hopper descendants can be found in every state and in many other countries. The Hopper Family Vol. II the Seventh an Eighth Generations is a continuation of the original The Hopper Family Genealogy, Descendants of Andries Willamzen Hoppe(n) of New Amsterdam 1651-1658; The First Six Generations, published in 2005, and revised as Vol. I. in 2025. Volume II, published in two parts, details the lives of the descendants of the seventh and eighth generations, with the names of their ninth generation children (and their spouse). The detailed information on these descendants, who lived from the late 1700’s to the late 1900’s, is well sourced and features more than 230 images of people, buildings, maps and documents. The extensive bibliography and index are in Part Two. More than three thousand descendants are identified in the three books. Read more
